Cord Blood Stem Cell Banking – Why Do Parents Consider Banking of Stem Cells?

picture taken from : http://arkansasmatters.com/media/jpg/umbilical_cord2009-03-10-1236709693.jpg

Cord blood stem cell collection is a necessary act, but not routine in delivery rooms. Expectant parents are recommended to plan for cord blood donation early since nearly 50% of the vaginal child deliveries take place before the scheduled date. In such cases, even the most enthusiast parents seem to lose the opportunity to preserve their child’s umbilical cord cells that contain life saving potential for their newborn baby or other members of families. Therefore, plan and contact an umbilical cord blood bank for storing the miraculous stem cells. It is suggested that the interested parents do some research themselves about the various options available for preserving their baby’s stem cells in a cord blood bank.

When To Contact A Cord Blood Bank
Medical practitioners advise yet-to-be parents to plan for cord blood stem cell banking as early as the fourth month of the pregnancy. Most of the parents decide to bank cord blood cells if they have a family history of a particular disease that is treatable by bone marrow transplant or have a family member who is ailing with one of the disease that suggest bone marrow transplant treatment. The mother has to undergo special medical tests to ensure that she is eligible for the donation. In addition, she has to sign a consent form.

Cord Blood Stem Cells – Why?
Though bone marrow transplants have been successful in a number of diseases, rare availability of stem cells leave patients yearning for the cells for a prolonged period of time. One of the major reasons why parents, today opt for cord blood preservation, is that if the need arises, the patient does not have to wait for a matching donor. This is more true for the patients who belong to an ethic minority group. With approvals granted by FDA two decades ago, cord blood cell industry is booming with huge developments of public and private banks. Families, who have not stored their own babies’ stem cells in a private cord blood bank, still are likely to find a genetically matched stem cell sample from a public cord blood bank. Besides, research has proved that umbilical cord stem cells are more versatile compared to the ones extracted from bone marrow.

Costs Of Banking Cord Blood Stem Cells
There are different types of cord blood banks. There are public banks and also private banks which are classified as non-profit private banks and profit oriented banks respectively. The payment schemes devised by the cord blood banks vary. Usually, cord blood stem cell banking comes with a payment package that sum up fees for enrollment information, collection kits, courier charges, banks laboratory, sample typing, processiong, storing and maintenance of the cord blood units.

Private banks charge nearly $1,500 to $2,000 to make the samples available to the families to counter illnesses that require re-growth of the cells. Some banks do not charge until and unless the donated samples are tested and proved to be worth of being stored. The charges are comparively less if you decide to donate the umbilical cord blood for research purposes. If the umbilical cord blood storage is provided for 15 to 20 years of period, several banks offer pre-paying plan that entails a one-time payment with discounts, which are more economical than annual payment schemes. Cord blood banks also entertain credit card payments. Non-profit cord blood banks offer free cord blood banking programs. Though economical payment plans are alluring, however, it is the efficiency of the banks that should be taken into account before choosing a bank for cord blood stem cell banking.

What Happens When You RefuseTo Motivate Yourself

by: Anthony D Carter

picture courtesy of : Sales Motivation .net

Pressure mounts. The more you put things off the more the pressure builds on you. You are no longer motivated internally, but instead you become motivated to avoid pain or relieve the pressure. This is not a fun place to be in.

Solution: This situation could have been avoided if steps would have been taken earlier. When you motivate yourself to do what needs to be done you can work with less pressure even if there is a deadline. When you push yourself to take action in a timely manner you are able to pace yourself. You'll get higher quality work done because you didn't have to make up for all of the lost time spent procrastinating.

Neglect. Important tasks do not get done. You are not attending to work that you are responsible for. This makes you appear unprofessional.

Solution: Do what needs to be done when if needs to be done. Do not wait. Take responsibility for what you are supposed to do. You will come across as dependable.

Missed opportunities. A major break comes and goes because you were not able to take advantage of the opportunity. You were not prepared.

Solution: Stay on top of your responsibiltities. You never know which completed task may be responsible for your breakthrough. Treat all of your work important. Do not put anything off to a later time. Make each task like it is the beginning of something big in your life and it will have a way of becoming so.

Letting go!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture courtesy of: Design your way
by Susie Heath

When we are born, we know our own magnificence. There is no discord, bitterness or resentment. We are just little, whole and pure. The tiniest baby understands love, and expresses it through snuggling close to whoever is giving the love. As infants, we have twice as many brain connections as an adult, a vivid imagination, a creative mind and a sensitive personality. It takes years of training to change us from that open state to where we are now, years of training the happiness and spontaneity out of us. Strong forces in society, school and home stifle our genius qualities. As newborns, we had only two fears - fear of falling and fear of loud noises. Now it seems we are afraid of almost everything. We make our lives so complicated and lose our intrinsic childlike sense of joy and wonder. How would it be if you can now let go of what you are not,
and just be who you really are?

Imagine how that would feel. Then you can have a wonderful open space in which to create your amazing new life. Like a magical spring-clean, it will give you much greater clarity, so you can focus on the wondrous things you really do desire. Open your mind and empty out the rubbish, all the ‘stuff’ that has accumulated over the years. Scrub it clean; yes, even the dusty murky corners. Clear away all the junk, all the lies you have been told about not being good enough, so you can reclaim who you really are and what you already know deep, deep within the recesses of your soul. We need to remove the barriers that block love from coming in, and from us expressing it.

So is this brainwashing? Oh yes, absolutely, in the truest sense of the word - washing out the brain. You can free it from all the negativity, conditioning and repetitive patterns of behaviour, worry and garbage that you have taken in throughout your life that keep you from being all that you can be as a real woman.

You’ve got an ego; we’ve all got an ego. We tend to think of our ego as the part of us that shows off, but our ego also has another side to it. Our ego hangs around with pain, guilt, fear, remorse and lots of ‘If only’s’ and ‘Yes but’s.’ It survives by the juice it gets from all these darker emotions lots of complaining, comparing, blaming and wallowing in misery.

Although we may not choose the situations that happen to us, consciously or unconsciously we do choose our response to whatever situation we find ourselves in.
Everything we do in life, whether positive or negative, has some sort of payoff. The good payoffs make us feel wanted, loved, appreciated, desired and cared for. The not so good ones mean we avoid taking responsibility for our own lives. We then get together with people who share the same pessimistic view as us which just reinforces
our negativity; we get sympathy, we apportion blame, we justify our misery, we have ready-made excuses as to why things don’t go according to plan and why we have got side-tracked from our life-purpose. If it wasn’t giving us some sort of pay-off, we wouldn’t do it! But it’s not who you really are! ©Susie Heath

Dream Your Dream

Author: Jesse Green
howtoselfmotivate

"Impossible is nothing" Adidas inspire me. How to Self Motivate? yes, dream your dream .

picture courtesy of : Adidas - Impossible is nothing
Everyone, at some point in your life, I dreamed of being somebody special, somebody big. Who does not have fantasies about who hits the game winner of Homer? Who does not dream to be queen? And how many times we wanted to be rich or successful, or happy with our relationship?

Often, we dream big dreams and big aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that? dreams. Our aspirations easily collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our lives. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in the free update, we are stuck in the banality of everyday life barely exists.

But you know what? Life could be much better if we learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals is the word impossible. Most people believe that the fault can not do that. It is very hard. Moreover, it is impossible. Nobody can do that.

However, if everyone thought that there would be no inventions, no innovations, and no progress in human achievement.

Remember that when the scientists had a confused look to the humble bee. Theoretically, they said it was impossible for the bee to fly. Unfortunately for Bumble, bee no one said. So does flying.

Moreover, some people suffer from dreaming totally outrageous dreams and not acting on them. The result? Shattered dreams, and tattered aspirations.

Limited questions, assumptions and self-limited, you will never be able to break past that you consider impossible. If you get very far in the sky without working towards your goal, you will find yourself clinging on to the impossible dream.

Try this exercise. Take a piece of paper and write some goals in your life. According to a header, the list of things that you know you can do. Under another header, write the things that you may be able to do. And one more that the list of things that are impossible to do for you.

Now look at all the headers strive every day to achieve the objectives that are in things you know you can do. Check if you are able to perform them. As you slowly are able to test all their goals in this game, to try to achieve the goals under the other a header that says you may be able to do.

As under the articles that he wrote things that I could be made, you can move the goals that are in things that are impossible for the list of things that may be capable of doing.

As you iterate through this process is that the goals that were thought impossible to be easier to achieve. And impossible to start, then everything seems possible.

You see, the technique is not limited to your imagination. It is the goal high, and start working towards that goal little by little. However, it is also prudent to set a goal that is truly realistic.

Those who just dream of a goal without working hard end up disappointed and disillusioned.

Moreover, if someone said that one hundred years ago it was possible for man to be on the moon, who laugh at you. If you had said you can send mail from here across the world in seconds, it seems that was out of his mind. But by sheer will and perseverance, these impossible dreams are now realities.

Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Nothing could be more true. To perform one of his dreams, must have had work and discipline. But note that 1% has to be a big dream, and not some easily.

Ask any gym rat and he or she will tell you that there can be no gains unless you are outside your comfort zone. Remember the saying, no pain, no gain? This is as real as can be.

So in dreams, buddy! Do not get caught with their limitations. Think big and work hard to achieve those dreams. As a step up the ladder of progress, only to learn that the impossible has become a little more possible.

Questions to Keep a Conversation Going and Avoid Awkward Moments of Silence

Author: Michael Lee

Whoever said that it’s difficult to talk with people probably doesn’t know the questions to keep a conversation going. These questions are the secret weapons of every good conversationalist. Some practice asking these at home, while others are just naturals at it. If you wish to know the types of questions to keep a conversation going, read on! 1) Ask about people. People always make for an interesting topic. If you and the person you’re speaking to happen to have common friends, asking about them would help break the ice. Whenever I meet with new people, I always try to find out what circles they belong to and ask about people I know from those circles. I usually get positive responses with these questions, and the conversation just moves on to more common ground. 2) Ask about movies. Who doesn’t like movies? One of the best questions to keep a conversation going is that of film. If you’re a movie buff though, try not to overwhelm the person you’re talking to with all sorts of details. Start by asking what movie they’ve seen last, and then make your way from there. 3) Ask about current events. A lot of people watch the news. Even those who don’t still hear about the news everywhere they go. Whether it’s about politics or network wars on television, people always have something to say. This is one of the safest kinds of questions to keep a conversation going because everybody has an opinion. There’s no right or wrong answer. When talking to people you’ve just met, there is the tendency to get tongue-tied or be at a loss for words. Such situations can be embarrassing especially when you don’t get the chance to redeem yourself. But now you know the types of questions to keep a conversation going, you will always have something to say to make your conversation smooth-sailing.

Persuasive Speech Topics – Finding Speech Topics to Persuade and Rock the Audience!

Illustration by Henry Blackburn in the New York GRAPHIC, Nov. 5, 1873
from the Dave Thomson collection. http://www.twainquotes.com/Speech.html

Author: Michael Lee

Having a tough time deciding on what persuasive speech topics to talk about? Don’t sweat it. In this article, you’ll discover some amazing tips to easily find persuasive speech topics that will keep your audience listening to your every word.

First, you must know your target audience very well. Know their age, sex, educational attainments and career experiences. Find out what their beliefs, dreams and goals are. What keeps them excited or awake at night? What makes them tick?

If possible, know their personal, cultural, social, religious and political backgrounds. This will prevent you from saying something that might be offensive to a particular race or culture.

Then based on the information gathered from your audience, list down a list of persuasive speech ideas that might fit their personality, status or background. Remember that the worst thing you could do is deliver a boring speech, so try to come up with controversial yet useful subject matters.

List down persuasive speech topics that will benefit them. Remember they’re always thinking of “WIIFM” (What’s In It For Me?). If they don’t see any good results or advantage for listening to your speech, they won’t be interested or responsive.

After you’ve listed down your topics, check those items that you either are an authority in or are very familiar with. Your audience will look up to people with authority. If they perceive you as someone who is an expert in a subject, they would be more likely to listen to you and accept your viewpoints.

But even if you’re not familiar with any subject, as long as you’re passionate about it, you can still choose that topic. Just do proper research over the internet and libraries to come up with your persuasive speech ideas.

During your research, take note of the most interesting or helpful facts that might astound your audience. Keep an open mind and relate how your research can solve their problems or improve any aspect of their life.

Some people are naturally skeptical, so show proof to validate your claims. Gather statistics, facts, testimonials, endorsements, presentations, case studies or true stories. Make sure you note down the source or reference.

Finding persuasive speech topics is easy if you follow the guidelines above. Simply give your audience the information they want to hear, and you’ll do a fantastic job. Best of luck to you!
